Basileus (President)
Executive Committee (over all committees)
Induction Date: March 1, 2009 - Zeta Eta Sigma Alumnae Chapter
Favorite National Program: Swim 1922 - I enrolled my daughter in swim classes when she was 2 1/2 as a result of statistics around African American children and the low rates of them knowing how to swim and their likelihood of drowning incidents compared to their white counterparts. This program, although newer to SGRho, is currently my favorite national program. I love seeing the collaboration between U.S. A. Swimming and its commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Why I Chose Sigma: I chose to become a member of Sigma Gamma Rho after meeting the ladies on the campus of Michigan State University. They were down to earth, kind, and really embodied the term sisterhood. Once I was able to meet many Michigan Sorors, they all demonstrated to me what "I am my Sister's Keeper" meant. The ability to serve the community with my sisters keeps me motivated and active in the organization. I know that I can count on any of them, wherever I am, to be there for me when I am in need. Networking and Community Service are bonuses.
What I Have Learned: Sigma has helped me to understand the need for having a "village". I am a homebody and I work a lot. The Sorority pushes me to be more social and reminds me of the importance of being connected to people around me.

Chapter Centennial Planning Committee, Awards & Achievements Committee, Mebmership Committee Chair
Induction Date: December 10, 2000, *Xi Upsilon Chapter - Oakland University
Favorite National Program: Swim 1922. As a prior competitive swimmer and mother of two small children, I understand and appreciate the education of water safety focused in the African American communities which see the most water related deaths annually. I believe the program is vital in not only keeping children safe but promoting water athletics for healthier youth.
Why I Chose Sigma: I chose to join a sorority for the global sisterhood that sorority life offers but particularly Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. because of the correlation of the organization’s focus on the betterment of the youth and the historical foundation of having persevered through several relatable obstacles for the founding of the organization.
What I Have Learned: The leadership skills I have gained from the organization’s opportunities is by far the greatest asset I have obtained from my membership with Sigma

Favorite National Program: Operation BigBookBag
Why I Chose Sigma: I chose to be a member of Sigma Gamma Rho because of the welcoming nature of all the members I came in contact with throughout my life. Also, no matter where in the country I've been, there's always been a chapter of sorors serving the community.
What I Have Learned: I've learned parliamentary procedure and how necessary it is to a functioning governing body. I've also learned about the different functions of each position and the checks and balances that come along with them.

Induction Date: March 18, 2021 - Zeta Eta Sigma Alumnae Chapter
Favorite National Program: Women’s Wellness Initiative. Being that the sorority is for women, I find that this exemplifies what sisterhood is all about. Women have historically had a lot on their shoulders and receive less than stellar support for not only issues in Corporate America, but support for mental, familial and life balance areas.
Why I Chose Sigma: I chose to be a member of Sigma Gamma Rho because of the reputation of the sorority being truly one that respects sisterhood for all members and the culture.
What I Have learned: Being that my exposure to the sorority only began at the alumni level, since becoming a member I have realized the value of having a group of like-minded women truly becoming sisters and accepting you for who you are.

Why I Chose Sigma: I love the fact that our founders were educators as that aligns with my career path and my enthusiasm for education. I was able to connect with a member from the Pi Nu Chapter at Oakland University, who exemplified sisterhood, scholarship, and service solidifying my hope of finding an organization that exemplifies what I want to see in my best self.
What I have learned: Overall, I have learned how I can contribute to the community, professional development, and true sisterhood.

Induction Date: Feb 23, 2012, Delta Epsilon - Eastern Michigan University
Favorite National Program: Women's Wellness Initiative. You can help the community in many different ways using this program. For an example, you can give to your local lighthouse, homeless shelter for women and children, help local and/state jails and prisons with women needs and/or raise money for March of Dimes, Breast Cancer Awareness and Mental Health. We are women ourselves and can help other women as well as learn from other women about the basic needs and care women need.
Why I Chose Sigma: . I chose to become a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. because I saw the different programs they are involved in within the community i.e. Girl Scouts, swimming and networking with other members in the NPHC and other chapters.
What I Have Learned: Since joining Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. I have learned that each person in the chapter plays an important part in the chapter. Each member is valued in such a good way that it brings you back every year.

Why I Chose Sigma: I wanted to be a part of an organization that has a presence in the community. Sigma places an emphasis on service and that is exemplified by the National Programs and partnerships we maintain and host. Also, I wanted to be connected to a group of like-minded, trail blazing women.
What I Have Learned: Since joining Sigma, I have learned a lot already. I have learned how to host meetings using Robert’s rule of order. I have learned about all officer positions and what requirements must be met to hold those offices and proper meeting conduct. I have also learned how to open up and trust other women more easily.

Induction Date: Fall 2017, Pi Nu - Oakland University
Favorite National Program: Women’s Wellness Initiative
Why I Chose Sigma: Growing up I always wanted to be involved within the community and help others, but I didn’t know how to go about it. During my undergraduate years I had the luxury of meeting phenomenal women who uplifted their communities through not only community service but on a social level. They encouraged, guided and pushed me to be the best version of myself. Over time I learned that the sorority was filled with these great women who were driven, caring, loving, hardworking, and who were passionate about making the world a better place. I wanted to be a part of that history and to surround myself with people who were courageous, compassionate and selfless. For the members of Sigma Gamma Rho joining was more than the letters, colors and fun activities that comes with being in a s sorority, it was a lifelong bond, family, and unconditional love that sealed the deal for me.
What I Have Learned: I learned that the things that are worth it in life requires hard work and dedication, but fun is needed to keep a good balance. I learned that sometimes it’s okay to not be okay and to ask for help from others when I truly need it. I learned how to communicate in a healthy way by listening to the other person and to not only attempt to get my point across. Despite different ages, ethnic backgrounds, religions, educational accomplishments, family dynamics we are all just trying to figure out life, become the best versions of ourselves, and have a deep-rooted love for the community. I look forward to learning more and applying that knowledge to different parts of my life.

Induction Date: March 26, 2022 - Zeta Eta Sigma Alumnae Chapter
Favorite National Program: Operation Big BookBag. My favorite national program is Operation Big Book Bag. I teach 7th grade ELA at Legacy Charter Academy and I love promoting education to our youth. A lot of negative things are being promoted to our children and it makes them feel embarrassed to like school. Depending on their background and home life, school is all they have. This program brings excitement to the children during the "Back to School" time every year.
Why I Chose Sigma: I became interested from my undergraduate years at Michigan State University. The members at that time were compassionate, were loving, caring, nice, and showed grace. They displayed sisterhood in a positive way. They allowed you to get to know them without making you feel pressured to be a part of their organization and didn’t look at you differently because you weren’t a member . The more members I met from various chapters, the more I recognized I still received the same feeling of comfort. That’s when I knew that Sigma Gamma Rho was for me and I looked no further than Sigma.
What I Have Learned: I have learned that we are all different, whether it be paths, ages, stages in life, but we come together for the betterment of the community and that's what makes us unique. We are there for one another, we uplift one another, and we also create a safe space for one another.
